Customer Rating: Summary: Waste of money and time Comment: This book is a misleading waste of time. I couldn't get past half way through and that was only by making myself keep reading. Why the "f" word is needed is beyond me. This is not really about getting skinny, staying skinny or anything else of that nature. This book is about bashing the cattle industry, the dairy industry and anything that doesn't have to do with being a vegan. Whoop tee doo!!! They need to just say up front that they hate people who eat anything except vegatables and fruits and that we are going to burn hell along with anyone who has anything to do with the food industry.. except that is the organic vegatabally fruity industry... WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: This book gave me a headache Comment: I did not like this book. I thought it was a string of random statements without facts or explanations to back them up. I found it to be entirely lacking in substance. The authors provided little reasoning or scientific explanation. Reading it, I felt like I was listening to a friend who watched some segment on TV about nutrition and then decides to tell me about it, when I know she is just repeating what she heard and really has no idea what she's talking about. Annoying!
Overall, I was very disappointed! While I certainly agree with some of the things they tell you to do, it gave me a headache to read. Would not recommend this to a friend.
Customer Rating: Summary: I friggin' LOVED the book Comment: It's fun, blunt, informative, it's how my friends and I sometimes jargon with each other. It's different, and the authors took an approach never taken before. I found it refreshing.
The authors aren't saying get reed thin, they're saying, "You're beautiful, you're smart, but you're making excuses, we're calling you on it, now get going, girl." Check out the dietbook aisles at any bookstore - with all the hand-holding, cheerleading, and positive affirmations, we're still a fat nation with body image issues i.e victims. Heck, even Oprah's fat again.
Am I a vegan? No, but I am done with pork and beef and have no problem if you're not. This book supports my decision.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good information, but annoyingly presented Comment: The language in this book is weird and inconsistent. It's like the authors took their college papers from Nutrition 101, bound them together, and, on the advice of some marketing agent, sprinkled the final product with "dumb b*tches" and "you stupid douche bags." The effect is off-putting, like listening to your college professor curse and it's clear to everyone in the room that the only reason she's doing it is to sound cool to her students.
One thing that I really appreciate about this book is the "Have No Faith" chapter, which reveals that agencies like the FDA are more interested in making money than in protecting us. If there's one thing our society needs, it's more discerning consumers who know the true value of the statement "FDA approved." Also, I disagree with the people who say that this book was advertised deceitfully: it *is* a weight-loss book; it's just not the weight-loss book that most people expect it to be.
Customer Rating: Summary: Personally, I love the book! Comment: First thing you gotta know about this book is there is a lot of profanity and this is a VEGAN diet. I did not know this when I purchase the book although I have been thinking about becoming vegetarian. They named the book Skinny Bitch for a reason and that was to sell the book. They also did not include that it was a vegetarian diet on the cover for a reason also and that was to sell the book. I personally like the book. The authors are very straight forward and like to tell you that "If you eat crap, you are crap". According to them, soda is liquid Satan. You have to give up a lot like coffee, sugar, soda, sweets, meat, eggs, cheese, etc. They also tell you the graphic and horrific details of what goes on in slaughter houses. If you are vegan or want to have a vegan diet, I suggest this book to you. If not, I wouldn't recommend it.
