A new twist on the classic party game, which tests quick thinking and word play.- Players think up words in a given category that start with a given letter
- Players race against opponents to get in the last word
- Random-interval timer keeps everyone guessing
- The player with the last word in before the timer sounds advances
- For 2 to 8 players or teams
Ideal for parties and get-togethers, it's a game people of all ages can play and enjoy together.Safety warning: This product contains small parts that may present a choking hazard for young children.

Customer Rating: Summary: Play another game Comment: With eight people playing, this got to crazy (and not fun). The set up is too hard to follow, it is very difficult to teach a group who has never played, and it gets boring quickly. There rules are not clear (if the letter is I can you say ink well then ink pen and ink stain, etc, etc etc). The game is too subjective. People who had longer words to say (like actors and cities) never could be included. It is a poor game.
Customer Rating: Summary: Almost brought a fun party to a halt Comment: A group of us get together about once a month for game night, with word and thought games being the most popular. We've been playing BuzzWords for a couple of months (GREAT GAME!). I bought Last Word because it seemed to be a fun alternative. We played a rousing game of BuzzWords then switched to Last Word. I thought we were all going to fall asleep. It might be better if played in teams, but even then, it took forever for 8 of us to move even 2 or 3 squares. The concept sounded good -- but the execution was pretty bad.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fun game for the family/friends get-together...and it doesn't take forever to finish! Comment: My wife and I purchased this board game primarily just out of curiosity. We wanted something for small parties and get-togethers. We like Cranium and Balderdash, but sometimes these games can take forever. Well, Last Word goes by quickly. So, if you're trying it out and you hate it, then just be patient. It will be over before you know it! If you're trying it out and you love it, then you can play it again and again in a relatively short period of time.
The game itself is a bit like Scattergories. Each player gets a category card such as "Items in a purse", a letter card is drawn, then you play your category card and starting throwing out names of items that are found in a purse that start with that letter. Mostly it's fun, but sometimes ideas run out and the game slows down almost to a halt. If there were a wider variety of category cards, then this would not be the case. Also, the last word must be spoken before the buzzer, which is set to go off at random times every time.
It's a fun game which could have used a little improvement, but overall, I recommend it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Utter Chaos Comment: I've played dozens of party games, and usually the louder we can get then the better the game, but this game was just sheer madness. When reading the rules it seems rather simplistic and fun, but in actual application it was horrible.
With a group of up to eight players everyone gets a "subject card". The subject can be boys names, actors, things found in a dentist office, etc. Each player keeps his subject to himself. Then a "letter card" is turned face up. At that point the first person to 1.) put down his subject card 2.) read the subject aloud & 3.) say a word that begins with the letter shown and is applicable to his subject (e.g. the letter is "O", "boys name: Otis!"), then his subject is the subject for the entire group. Immediately after shouting out your subject and word that begins with the visible letter, you have to hit the random timer and the race is on for everyone to say the last word.
I'll tell you how the game really went:
"The letter is 'B'".
"Blalalalalalalalah!!!!!!!"
"No,"
"What?"
"I was first!"
"Who said you can hit the timer?"
"You're cheating!"
"My subject is too long, I couldn't say it faster than you!"
"I didn't hear anything but yelling."
"Just because you were loudest doesn't mean you were first."
"OK, this game is terrible, lets pack it up."
With eight people yelling at once and all eight people believing that they were first, we got nowhere. We actually had to modify the game just so it was playable. We just selected subject cards and then flipped over a letter card and went from there.
Customer Rating: Summary: Favorite Game! Comment: How to Play:
Everyone has a subject card, for example you could have one that said Girl's Names, Player #2 could have Dog Breeds and Player #3 could have All About Getting Old. Then someone flips over a letter card. It's D. Player #2 puts down their subject card (Dog Breeds) and says Dalmatian and hits the buzzer. Then everyone starts saying Dog Breeds that start with D. So you say Dachshund, Player #3 says Doberman, then the buzzer goes off. Player #3 said the last Dog Breed that started with D (before the buzzer) so Player #3 moves one space on the board.
Why its so Much Fun:
I really don't know why its so much fun, it just is. People are trying so hard to think that their brain "over-heats" and starts being stupid. Like your supposed to keep your subject card to yourself but sometimes you pick it up and say it on accident. And we tend to say things that don't even start with the letter. And then there are some subjects that you can come up with some funny things for. Its not the same thing everytime. We could play 4 rounds of it and not get the same combinations, you might get Dog Breeds in the first round and the fourth round but you might not get it with D everytime.
It appeals to all ages!!
It sure does, I've played it with people from 12-grandparents and everyone has so much fun with it. And its just so easy. I mean sometimes you get stumped on one (mine are Cocktails and Things found at a Casino) but thats why you have a trade-in card that allows you to get a new subject card (one time use)
So overall this is probably my favorite game. Definitely give it a try, I know you won't be disappointed.
